Is there a need for another group like NABCEP?

What is the biggest moat that Solar Industry has?   What is keeping the Electricians from jumping in mass to become Solar installers?  SolarEdge made it so easy to comply with 2017/2020 Code cycles.  Why didn't our industry bring in more tradespeople who were honest and could have filled the need instead of PowerHomes/PinkEnergy?

We've relied on SEIA and NABCEP to be the mouthpieces for our careers and really do they speak for the installers?   Did they deliver the messages properly to the public or rebute some of the misinformation that is out there about Solar.   We've always told our customers that Solar is about Math not Magic.   If you have 500W Modules that doesn't mean you get 500 All the Time.   Teaching the customers about the AC/DC ratios and giving actual production numbers that we provide a warranty for.   Even though I have moved away from the sales side of the business, I still provide customers with honest approaches.   I know I am not alone in that endeavor.

So, that is why we started the Solar Progress Alliance.   That and we want to have a free expression for our industry to spread knowledge.   We've all paid the high prices of learning on the job, replacing those parts that we let the smoke out of.   It's time that start accepting that we can't know everything about all things.   Our industry is in a rapid growth phase.

Sol-Ark (DEYE) has trailblazed the Hybrid inverters and we are on the fast track to remove the obstacle of Utilities Companies.   While we continue to maintain and follow the NEC Codes, collectively who is going to represent and eventually remove us from the old thinking.  No more worrying about Service Lines, or Meter Boxes.   It's not just solar anymore, its BESS, EV and Load Shedding Management.

Manufacturers are in a crazy cycle right now as well.   As I write this, we have Outback being purchased by Signature Solar, and Sensata reducing production of the Magnum lines.   Schneider was reported to stop producing the XW, but I haven't gotten a confirmation about that.

Thank you everyone who joins this site, I look forward to having many great discussions with you about all things under the Sun.
